Driver License Revoked

A revoked driver's license can happen in several different ways. The most common way to lose a driver's license is by having tons of traffic tickets for moving violations or a first DUI charge. In more severe cases, it could be the result of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). The effect of this accumulation can lead to a license suspension of thirty, sixty, or ninety days. Any extra moving violations may lead to a one year suspension of the privilege to drive. License suspensions may also occur because the person did not have liability insurance, driving with blood alcohol levels more than the legal limits, refusing to take a breathalyzer test, or unpaid traffic charges. It is highly recommended that a DMV hearing be requested as soon as possible.

There is a decent probability of having the driver license suspension thrown out; the worst thing that can happen is that the same driver license suspension will simply take effect, but later than 30 days.

It is crucial that the DMV be wrote to by the individual's attorney within 10 calendar days of the arrest. On the 11th day, the DMV will refuse to provide a hearing and the suspension will automatically take effect in 30 days. If an attorney has not been retained within the 10-day window, the person should contact the local Drivers Safety Office himself. Driving with a revoked driver's license is a serious offense which could lead to arrest, jail time, fines, or having your license revoked even further.

If your license is suspended or revoked, your insurance premiums could increase. It is highly suggested that you make every effort to support a valid driver's license.
